How to Eat Bread is the book that Archdeacon of Liverpool, Miranda Threlfall-Holmes, wrote to fill the gap between popular Bible reading notes and more academic books. Its three main sections delve into the rich heritage of how Christians have read the Bible down the ages, inviting readers to sample a variety of tried and tested ways of wrestling with Scripture, experiment with different ingredients and be fed by the results.
This lent course will focus on the first section of the book, using videos from the author as she unpacks how we know what to trust in a world of misinformation, how we can fruitfully reflect on Bible stories that upset, anger or appall us and how we might learn from the rabbinic tradition of arguing with God!
There is no need to pre read the book, handouts will be provided.
